This exhibition is an integral part of the course Creativity, Wellness, and Art Therapy (SOWK 3027) for all undergraduate students in HKBU. The course is designed and instructed by Dr. Joshua Nan of the Department of Social Work. It comprises an overview of the historical development of visual arts, the essential elements of artistic creation and concepts of art therapy, and a review over the interrelationship between arts and health
from the perspective of neuroscience.
Students take part in this exhibition after completing a semester-long art making and reflective process, class lectures, interviews, and small group presentations. They share their feelings and the thoughts embodied in their unique artistic expressions.
This art exhibition also promotes the application of art therapy to different populations, and reveals the power of arts in bringing people distinct changes in life. With its
widespread adoption, art therapy has turned into an effective remedy that rejuvenates human spirit and guides people to forge their paths to wellness.
