Dementia and Us: Experiential Dementia Workshop and The Human Library

Student Staff

21 Jun 2022

2:30pm-5:30pm

HKBU AAB705

Description

If you are interested in dementia-related issues, you are welcome to join the workshop. You will step into the shoes of people with dementia and their carers and understand what dementia is and the role of a young carer. Dementia is not as daunting as we thought–let’s be prepared to dive into an alternative cognitive world! The workshop will be divided into two parts. The first part will be an Experiential Dementia Workshop conducted by The Illuminant, a local social enterprise. Students will be immersed in a Virtual Reality (VR) experience which enables them to understand the daily challenges encountered by people with dementia. Another part will be The Human Library shared by Merida (文文), a working carer. She will share the story of living with her grandmother who suffers from dementia. You can chat with Merida to learn more about the role of a working carer.
